As 2020 is now firmly in the rear-view mirror, I am sure like me, you too were tested beyond what you may have had originally thought was your limit, regarding your reservoir of resilience, or the range on your gritometer.

NATURES HAND

Personally, for me during these periods, nature has been a great friend and ally. At times It has given me great clarity and perspective, in providing a sense of freedom, by getting out into it, but also by offering a steady familiar structure, with its soothing seasonal rhythms, which seem totally unaffected by the ever-shifting existential environmental noise, that’s being created at present. The resilience, grit, and irreverence in the elements of nature, has stayed with me over the weeks and months, as last year unfurled itself to a finish and as this year crept in, almost apologetically.

RESILIENCE IN YOUR DNA

To me, the elements evidenced in nature encapsulated the very essence of what I feel most of us drew upon during those times. This cache of natural resilience, grit, and an unbreakable spirit, which ultimately sharpened our tools, allowing us to mine a tunnel through 2020. Indeed, once again these tools are being called upon, to get us through the current disruption, to attack the coalface once more, and forge a new pathway in 2021.

HARNESSING YOUR NATURAL POWER

In all of nature, there lies a seed at its very core, which is encoded to allow it to flourish and reach its full potential, come what may. The environment will dictate a certain number of variables, in relation to the speed of growth and how it achieves its destination. However, what the environment does not dictate, is what’s coded deep within and this is where the real magic happens, as it evolves, bends, and twists to surmount and overcome the challenges posed.

As humans, we too are blessed with this capability and we must always remember this. That which is encoded within, is far more powerful and sculpting than many of the external elements that greet and challenge us daily, otherwise, we as humans would not have flourished in the past and exist currently in the capacity we do.

A recent all-island published study ‘Surviving a Crisis as a Family Business’ by Dublin City University – National Center for Family Business – showed that this capability of employing a resilient mindset, coupled with the ability to be innovative and adaptable, while focusing on employee health & wellbeing, were key agents in their survival and success to date during this pandemic.

FIGHT FOR THE LIGHT

Quite often we can become anxious and overwhelmed, sell ourselves short and allow the environment to close out the light completely. This may result in us cutting ourselves off from the necessary energies or connections required, to allow us to grow and flourish, thus giving way to the antagonistic and dominating variables that compete for our space and life sustenance.

During these current chronic struggles, now more than ever, we need to turn inwards and build and invest in our own personal infrastructure, reinforcing our capabilities to remain strong, steadfast, and resilient. Selfcare and self-regulation are key here in managing our energy and our Health & well-being. By doing so, ultimately gives us a stronger platform and strengthens our reservoir of resilience, to not only survive but thrive within our environment.

KEY TAKE AWAY

In summary, cultivate your power within, stay energised and build your resilience capacity through greater self-care and self-regulation.
